1. In 1912, the city of Winter Haven was incorporated in Florida. Located in Polk County, Winter Haven boasts a population of over 41,000 and is home to numerous lakes and parks, including Legoland Florida Resort.

2. On April 10, 1967, the Sunshine Skyway Bridge was opened to the public. Spanning Tampa Bay, the bridge connects St. Petersburg to Terra Ceia and has become an iconic landmark in the state of Florida.

3. In 1971, the U.S. Spacecraft Apollo 13 successfully splashed down in the Pacific Ocean after a harrowing mission that nearly ended in disaster. The spacecraft had launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida on April 11, 1970.

4. On April 10, 1982, a cargo ship known as the MV Summit Venture collided with the Sunshine Skyway Bridge during a severe thunderstorm. The crash caused a portion of the bridge to collapse, resulting in 35 fatalities. Today, a new bridge stands in its place as a monument to those who lost their lives.

5. In 1998, the Florida Panthers clinched their first ever playoff appearance in franchise history on April 10. Despite being eliminated in the first round by the New York Rangers, the team's accomplishment marked a significant milestone in their history.
