1. On April 18, 1900, the town of Cody, Wyoming was incorporated. The town, named after famed western showman Buffalo Bill Cody, was originally established as a place for settlers to live while working on the construction of the nearby dam.

2. In 1934, a destructive tornado hit the town of Rock Springs on April 18, killing ten people and causing extensive damage to buildings and infrastructure. The tornado was part of a larger severe weather outbreak that impacted numerous states in the Midwest and Great Plains.
