1. On April 2, 1903, the first car in Minnesota was registered. The car was owned by Minneapolis resident John W. Somers and was a one-cylinder, four-horsepower Woods Motor Vehicle.

2. In 1974, on April 2, the city of St. Paul dedicated its new Central Library building. The modern building, designed by architect Gunnar Birkerts, still stands as a landmark in the city today.

3. On April 2, 1874, the city of Duluth was incorporated. The city, located on the shores of Lake Superior, would go on to become one of the largest and most important ports in the United States.

4. In 2010, on April 2, the Minnesota Twins played their first regular-season game in Target Field, their new home stadium in downtown Minneapolis. The Twins would go on to win the game 5-2 against the Boston Red Sox.

5. On April 2, 1913, the University of Minnesota's Northrop Auditorium was dedicated. The building, which seats up to 2,700 people, has hosted countless performances and events over the years and remains an important cultural landmark in the Twin Cities.
