2) On April 25, 1975, the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project was launched, marking the first joint space mission between the United States and Soviet Union. The mission's launchpad was located at Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

3) The state of Florida became the first state to issue a statewide stay-at-home order due to the COVID-19 pandemic on April 25, 2020. The order was in effect until May 4, 2020.

4) In 1986, the worst nuclear disaster in US history occurred at the Chernobyl nuclear plant in Ukraine. Florida's Turkey Point Nuclear Generating Station located in Homestead, Florida, was one of the few US plants that shared the same type of reactor.

5) In 1947, William A. Upham became the first African-American appointed to a US District Court judgeship in Florida. He was appointed by President Harry S. Truman and made history as the first African-American federal judge in the state.
