2. On April 25, 1904, the Louisiana Purchase Exposition, also known as the St. Louis World's Fair, officially opened. The fair attracted millions of visitors and featured exhibits from around the world.

3. In 1934, a notorious shootout occurred between law enforcement and notorious bank robbers Bonnie and Clyde in Joplin, Missouri. Two lawmen were killed in the exchange, but Bonnie and Clyde managed to escape.

4. The Gateway Arch, one of Missouri's most iconic landmarks, was completed on April 25, 1965. The 630-foot-tall arch commemorates St. Louis' role as the Gateway to the West and is the tallest man-made monument in the western hemisphere.

5. Missouri native Harry S. Truman, the 33rd President of the United States, was born on April 25, 1884. Truman served as president from 1945 to 1953, during which time he made the controversial decision to drop atomic bombs on Japan to end World War II.
