1. April 27, 1872: Yellowstone National Park was established. This park was the first national park in the world and it is located in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. Yellowstone has a variety of natural and geothermal wonders, including Old Faithful, the Grand Prismatic Spring, and the Yellowstone Caldera.

2. April 27, 1904: The University of Wyoming was officially established. The university is located in Laramie, Wyoming and is the only four-year public university in the state. Today, the University of Wyoming is home to over 12,000 students and offers over 200 areas of study.

3. April 27, 1943: The first successful flight of the P-51 Mustang took place in Inglewood, California. The P-51 Mustang was a fighter plane widely used during World War II and was also used during the Korean War. The planes were built by North American Aviation and the engines were built by the Packard Motor Car Company, which had a plant in St. Clair, Michigan.

4. April 27, 1972: The National Wildlife Federation designated the Medicine Bow National Forest as a wilderness area. The Medicine Bow National Forest covers over one million acres in southeastern Wyoming and includes the Snowy Range Mountains. This wilderness designation helps protect the forest and its wildlife from development and human interference.

5. April 27, 1994: Wyoming became the last state in the U.S. to adopt a mandatory seat belt law for adults. This law requires all passengers in the front seat of a vehicle to wear a seat belt, regardless of their age. The law also requires children under the age of nine to be secured in an appropriate child restraint system while in a vehicle. The law was passed in an effort to reduce the number of injuries and fatalities caused by car accidents.
