4. The town of Elk Horn, Iowa, is home to the Danish Windmill, which was officially dedicated on August 10, 1976. The windmill was a gift from the Danish government to the people of the United States and serves as a tribute to the Danish immigrants who settled in the area.

5. On August 10, 1985, the Iowa Cubs, a minor league baseball team, set a record for the most runs scored in a single game. They defeated the Edmonton Trappers 29-7.
