1. In 1812, the first territorial legislature of Arkansas was convened in Arkansas Post, the oldest continuously occupied settlement in Arkansas.

2. In 1926, the Missouri-Pacific Railroad opened the Arkansas River Bridge, connecting Little Rock and North Little Rock. The bridge was the first major toll-free bridge to cross the Arkansas River.

3. In 1952, the University of Arkansas School of Law admitted its first African American student, Silas Hunt. Hunt had previously been denied admission to the university but was later admitted following a Supreme Court ruling.

4. In 1963, the Arkansas State Police arrested civil rights leader James Farmer and others for leading a group of protesters in a sit-in at a segregated restaurant in Little Rock.

5. In 1994, President Bill Clinton signed the Federal Crop Insurance Reform Act in Little Rock, which instituted changes to the federal crop insurance program to make it more equitable for small farmers.
