3. In 1913, the Leo Frank case began in Atlanta, Georgia. Frank, a Jewish factory superintendent, was accused of murdering Mary Phagan, a young employee at the factory. After a controversial trial, Frank was convicted and sentenced to death. The case sparked a wave of anti-Semitic sentiment in Georgia and was later the subject of numerous books and films.

4. On August 15, 1945, Japanese Emperor Hirohito announced Japan's surrender, effectively ending World War II. This news was met with celebrations around the world, including in Georgia, where people gathered in the streets to mark the end of the war.

5. In 1970, the Georgia State Fair opened in Perry, Georgia for the first time. The fair has since become an annual event and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. The fair features rides, games, concerts, livestock exhibits, and other attractions, and has become a beloved tradition in Georgia.
