1. In 1939, the first section of the Minnesota State Capitol building was completed. The Capitol was designed by Cass Gilbert, who also designed the United States Supreme Court building in Washington, D.C.

2. In 1949, construction began on the Duluth-Superior Harbor Access Project. The project was designed to improve access to the harbor for ships and increase economic opportunities for the region.

3. In 1962, the Pillsbury Company opened a new research and development facility in Minneapolis. The facility was responsible for developing new products, such as convenience foods and baking mixes.

4. In 1984, the first Minnesota Renaissance Festival was held in Shakopee. The festival has since become one of the largest Renaissance festivals in the country, attracting over 300,000 visitors each year.

5. In 2018, the Minnesota Lynx, the state's professional women's basketball team, played their final regular-season game at the Target Center in Minneapolis. The Lynx have won four championships since joining the WNBA in 1999.
