2. In 1930, the famous outlaw Tom Horn was executed in Cheyenne. Horn, a former Army scout and cowboy, was convicted of the murder of a 14-year-old boy. His trial and execution remain controversial to this day.

3. The Wyoming State Fair has been held annually since 1905, and August 19 has been the opening day for many of those years. The fair features livestock shows, rodeo competitions, carnival rides, and live music.

4. On this day in 1959, the Teton Dam in Eastern Idaho collapsed, sending a massive wall of water rushing into Wyoming. The flood caused extensive damage to farmland, homes, and businesses in the towns of Afton, Thayne, and Star Valley.

5. In 1985, the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo celebrated its 100th anniversary. The event is one of the largest and most well-known rodeos in the country, featuring top-notch performers and attracting visitors from around the world.
