1. On August 4, 1832, the Black Hawk War came to an end with the Battle of Bad Axe in present-day Vernon County. The conflict was fought between the United States and a group of Native American tribes led by Black Hawk, and resulted in the forced removal of the Native Americans from their lands in Wisconsin.

2. The Wisconsin State Fair opened for the first time on August 4, 1851, in Janesville. The event was organized by the State Agricultural Society to promote agriculture and showcase Wisconsin's agricultural products. Today, the Wisconsin State Fair is held annually in West Allis and attracts thousands of visitors.

3. On August 4, 1911, the town of Iron River was destroyed by a massive forest fire that swept through northeast Wisconsin. The fire, which was one of the worst in Wisconsin history, destroyed more than 500,000 acres of forest and claimed the lives of at least 11 people.

4. The Milwaukee Bucks selected Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with the first overall pick in the 1969 NBA Draft on August 4. Abdul-Jabbar went on to become one of the greatest basketball players of all time, leading the Bucks to their first championship in 1971 and winning six NBA titles in total.

5. On August 4, 2019, the Milwaukee Brewers set a new franchise record by hitting five home runs in the first inning of a game against the Washington Nationals. The Brewers went on to win the game 15-14 in extra innings, cementing their place in Brewers history.
