4. Oklahoma City Bombing Trial Begins (1997)
On August 8, 1997, the trial of Timothy McVeigh began in Denver, Colorado. McVeigh was accused of carrying out the Oklahoma City bombing on April 19, 1995, which killed 168 people and injured over 800 others. McVeigh was eventually found guilty and sentenced to death; he was executed by lethal injection in 2001.
5. The Will Rogers Memorial Museum Opens (1938)
On August 8, 1938, the Will Rogers Memorial Museum opened in Claremore, Oklahoma.
