1. Adolphus Busch was born on December 1, 1839. He was the co-founder of Anheuser-Busch, and famous for bringing Budweiser beer to the United States in 1876.

2. On December 1, 1865, Texas ratified the 13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, officially ending slavery in the state. This came more than six months after the amendment was adopted by Congress.
