1. In 1869, Wyoming became the first state to grant women the right to vote. This important moment in history took place on December 14th.

2. On December 14, 1890, the last major battle of the Indian Wars occurred in Wyoming. The Battle of Wounded Knee resulted in a tragic loss of Native American lives and marked the end of several years of conflict between settlers and indigenous people.

3. The first elected female governor in U.S. history, Nellie Tayloe Ross, was inaugurated on December 14, 1925. Ross served as the governor of Wyoming from 1925 to 1927, and again from 1933 to 1935.

4. December 14, 1944, marked the deadliest mining accident in Wyoming history. An explosion at the No. 3 Mine in Hanna killed 16 workers and injured 12 others.

5. On December 14, 1967, one of Wyoming's most famous residents was born. Rapper and actor LL Cool J, who grew up in Queens, New York, moved to Wyoming in his teens and attended school in Casper before embarking on his successful music and acting career.
