Known as the "Christmas Day Blizzard," it brought heavy snow, strong winds, and icy conditions to the region, resulting in numerous accidents, power outages, and other disruptions.

2. Lewis and Clark Expedition: On December 25, 1804, the famous explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark and their crew spent Christmas Day at Fort Mandan, a trading post they had established near present-day Washburn, North Dakota. They had been on their journey for several months and were making preparations for the next leg of their trip.

3. Statehood Day: December 25 is also known as Statehood Day in North Dakota, celebrating the day the state was admitted to the Union in 1889. North Dakota was the 39th state to enter the Union, and Statehood Day is a time to commemorate the state's proud history and heritage.
