2. On December 5, 1945, a flight carrying five U.S. Navy aviators disappeared after taking off from Naval Air Station in Florida. The flight, known as Flight 19, became one of the most famous mysteries in aviation history and is often cited as an example of the Bermuda Triangle phenomenon.

3. The first gas streetlights were lit in Seattle on December 5, 1873. The lights were installed on Yesler Way and burned from dusk until dawn. Seattle was one of the first cities in the U.S. to adopt gas lighting.

4. The Seattle Seahawks played their first game in franchise history on December 5, 1976. The game was played against the St. Louis Cardinals at the Kingdome in Seattle, and the Seahawks won 30-24.

5. In 1910, the Seattle Electric Company opened the first streetcar tunnel in the United States. The tunnel ran under downtown Seattle and allowed streetcars to travel safely and smoothly through the hilly topography of the city. The tunnel remained in use until 1940, when it was closed and converted into a storage facility.
