1. Pearl Harbor Day
December 7, 1941, was a historic day that will forever be remembered as the day Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. While Wyoming itself was not directly affected by the attack, many young men and women from the state went on to fight in World War II, contributing to the war effort in a significant way.

2. Wyoming Statehood Day
December 7 is also Wyoming Statehood Day. In 1869, President Ulysses S. Grant signed the bill that made Wyoming the 44th state in the Union. To celebrate, the state holds a series of events and festivities each year.

3. The Johnson County War
In 1892, tensions boiled over in Wyoming's Johnson County, resulting in a deadly conflict between local ranchers and hired gunmen. The Johnson County War, as it came to be known, ended on December 7 with a full-scale assault on a fortified cabin where several cattle rustlers had holed up. The assailants killed three men and wounded several others.

4. The Opening of Devils Tower National Monument
December 7, 1906, marked the dedication of Devils Tower National Monument in northeastern Wyoming. The monument, which features a large, striking tower of volcanic rock, has since become a popular destination for climbers, hikers, and tourists from around the world.

5. The Casper Star-Tribune is Founded
On December 7, 1891, the Casper Star-Tribune, one of Wyoming's major newspapers, was founded. The newspaper has since become an important source of news and information for the state's residents, covering a wide range of local and national issues. Today, the Casper Star-Tribune is still in print and has a large online following as well.
