2. The Ohio Buckeye tree was officially designated as the state tree on February 11, 1953. The Buckeye's shiny nut resembles the eye of a deer, hence the name.

3. On February 11, 1929, Ohio's first radio orchestra premiered on Cincinnati radio station WLW. Known as the "WLW Radio Orchestra," the group performed live music for radio programs and broadcasts.

4. Ohio astronaut Judith Resnik was born on February 11, 1949 in Akron. She became the second American woman in space aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery in 1984, but tragically died in the Challenger disaster in 1986.

5. The National Museum of the United States Air Force opened on February 11, 1971, in Dayton. The largest museum of its kind in the world, it houses an impressive collection of aircraft and artifacts related to the history of aviation and space exploration.
