3. On February 13, 1900, the Colorado State Capitol building was completed and opened to the public. Designed by architect Elijah E. Myers, the building is made of Colorado granite and is modeled after the United States Capitol building in Washington, D.C.

4. In 1962, the University of Denver hosted the VIII Olympic Winter Games. This was the first time the Olympic Games were held in the Western Hemisphere, and Colorado became the center of international attention for two weeks.
