1. In 1868, Wyoming's territorial legislature officially designated Cheyenne as the capital of the territory. The town was chosen due to its central location and access to major transportation routes.

2. In 1903, the first automobile was registered in Wyoming. The car, a Winton Runabout, belonged to a wealthy rancher and was the first of its kind in the state. It was registered with license plate number "1".

3. In 1914, the first ski resort in Wyoming opened in Teton Village. The resort, called Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, attracted skiers from all over the country and helped popularize the sport in the western United States.

4. In 1934, a massive snowstorm hit Wyoming, dumping over 30 inches of snow in some areas. The storm caused extensive damage to buildings and infrastructure and resulted in several fatalities.

5. In 1988, a major fire broke out in Yellowstone National Park, burning over 1.3 million acres of land. The fire was caused by extremely dry and hot weather conditions and was one of the most devastating wildfires in the park's history.
