1. In 1847, the Choctaw Nation signed a treaty with the United States government that gave the tribe land in what is now Oklahoma. Known as the Choctaw Land Cession Treaty, this arrangement allowed the Choctaw to settle in the Indian Territory and paved the way for the eventual establishment of Oklahoma as a state.

2. On February 2, 1904, the town of Claremore was incorporated in Indian Territory. Located in Rogers County, Claremore was named after a Cherokee chief and is the birthplace of Will Rogers, a legendary humorist and actor.

3. The first oil well in Osage County, Oklahoma was drilled on February 2, 1897. Known as the "Nellie Johnstone No. 1," the well was located near Bartlesville and produced more than 4,000 barrels of oil in the first 24 hours after it was completed.

4. In 1937, groundbreaking ceremonies were held for the construction of the Will Rogers Memorial in Claremore. The monument honors the life and legacy of Will Rogers, who died in a plane crash in Alaska in 1935.

5. February 2, 1915 was a significant day for aviation in Oklahoma. On that day, the United States Army established Fort Sill as a primary pilot-training center, and the nearby community of Lawton became a hub of aviation activity. The area around Lawton was also used for bombing practice during World War II. Today, the nearby Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas continues to train military pilots.
