February 24 is not a particularly significant date in Wisconsin history; however, some notable events have occurred on this day.

1. On February 24, 1837, the Wisconsin Territory was officially formed. It was created out of the western part of the Michigan Territory and included all of present-day Wisconsin, as well as parts of Minnesota and Michigan.

2. The first Wisconsin state capitol building, located in Madison, was destroyed by fire on February 24, 1904. No one was hurt, but the building was a total loss. A new capitol building was constructed in its place and completed in 1917.

3. In 1919, Wisconsin became the first state to ratify the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution, which granted women the right to vote. This occurred on February 24, marking an important milestone in the women's suffrage movement.

4. On February 24, 1953, the Milwaukee Braves baseball team held their first spring training game in Bradenton, Florida. The Braves would go on to win the National League pennant that year and play in the World Series.

5. In more recent years, on February 24, 2006, the Wisconsin State Assembly passed a bill banning smoking in all workplaces, including bars and restaurants. The bill was signed into law by Governor Jim Doyle, making Wisconsin the 25th state to implement a comprehensive smoking ban.
