1. In 1818, the Indiana General Assembly passed a law to establish Franklin College in Franklin, Indiana. Today, Franklin College is a private liberal arts college affiliated with the American Baptist Churches USA.
2. On February 7, 1904, Indiana's second state capitol building in Indianapolis was destroyed by fire. The building was rebuilt and still serves as the state capitol today.
3. In 1922, Indiana University's men's basketball team won their first Big Ten Conference game, defeating Purdue University 25-12 in Bloomington, Indiana.
4. On February 7, 1945, a B-17 bomber crashed into a cornfield near the town of Waynetown, Indiana, killing all 10 crew members on board. The cause of the crash was never officially determined.
5. In 2007, the Indiana Pacers retired the jersey of Reggie Miller, one of the most beloved players in franchise history. Miller spent his entire 18-year NBA career with the Pacers, leading the team to the NBA Playoffs 15 times and earning five NBA All-Star Game selections.
