1. On January 13, 1781, the Pennsylvania Line Mutiny occurred at the Continental Army's encampment in Wilmington, Delaware. The soldiers' demands for better pay and conditions were eventually met, but not before the mutiny had spread to other states.

2. Delaware became the first state to ratify the 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution on January 13, 1865, which abolished slavery.

3. On January 13, 1880, Delaware's first-ever football team played its first game against the Wilmington Athletic Club. Delaware lost the game 2-0, but the sport had taken root in the state and the team continued to play.
