1. In 1893, Wyoming became the first state in the US to grant women the right to vote. This milestone dates back to January 20th of 1869, when territorial legislators voted in favor of a bill that extended suffrage to women.

2. In 1978, Wyoming's Teton Dam, which provided irrigation water to surrounding areas, collapsed after several days of heavy rain. The disaster caused millions of dollars in damages and resulted in the loss of over a dozen lives. January 20th marked the start of the investigation into the dam's failure.

3. In 1920, the town of Lander was hit by a devastating fire that destroyed most of its downtown area. The blaze, which began in a local store, quickly spread due to strong winds. Despite the efforts of firefighters, several buildings were lost.

5. In 1949, a massive blizzard struck Wyoming, dumping up to 50 inches of snow in some areas. The storm caused widespread power outages and stranded thousands of residents. The event is considered one of the worst blizzards in Wyoming's history.
