2. On January 25, 1915, the state's first ski resort, Sun Valley, officially opened. It was also the first ski resort in the United States to have a chairlift.
3. In 1924, the famous "Big Blowout" occurred in Boise, Idaho. This was a large-scale reform campaign aimed at rooting out corruption and illegal activities in the city's government and businesses.
4. On January 25, 1934, a massive flood hit the state of Idaho, causing extensive damage and displacement of thousands of residents along the Snake River Valley. The flood was caused by a combination of heavy snowmelt and warm temperatures.
5. In 1978, the University of Idaho Vandals basketball team upset the nationally-ranked UNLV Runnin' Rebels in a memorable game that went into double overtime. The Vandals won 71-70, with star player Gus Johnson scoring the winning basket.
