1. In 1868, the first white woman arrived in Wyoming. Julia Archibald Holmes made the journey with her husband, James Holmes, and their two children. They were the first white family to climb Pike's Peak in Colorado and decided to settle in what is now Fort Bridger, Wyoming.

2. In 1906, the first Boy Scout troop in Wyoming was established in Cheyenne. The national organization was founded just six years earlier in 1900, and the first Wyoming troop was sponsored by the Lions Club of Cheyenne.

3. In 1943, Wyoming became the first state to ratify the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote. Wyoming had previously granted suffrage to women in 1869, making it the first territory or state in the United States to do so.

4. In 1951, the Iron Mountain Tramway opened in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It was the first tramway in the world designed specifically for skiers, and it transported visitors to the top of Rendezvous Mountain. Today, the area is part of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and is considered one of the premier ski destinations in the United States.

5. In 2005, a massive landslide occurred in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, destroying the town of Kelly. The slide, which was caused by melting snow and heavy rain, covered more than 300 acres of land and caused $4.5 million in damage. No one was injured in the incident.
