1. In 1863, the Idaho Territory was established by an act of Congress. This set the stage for the creation of the state of Idaho almost 30 years later in 1890.

2. In 1914, the Idaho State Historical Society was founded. The society is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and promoting the history of Idaho and its people.

3. In 1933, the Idaho State Capitol building was completed. The building is located in downtown Boise and is the home of the Idaho Legislature and the offices of the Governor and Lieutenant Governor.

4. In 2005, the Bald Eagle became the official state raptor of Idaho. This majestic bird is a symbol of the freedom and independence that Idahoans value.

5. In 2015, the Idaho State Museum underwent a major renovation and expansion. The museum features exhibits on Idaho's natural history, Native American cultures, pioneer life, and more.
