January 6 is not a significant date in Missouri history; however, here are five interesting January 6 events:

1. In 1812, Missouri became a territory. The Missouri Territory spanned from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains and included parts of the modern-day states of Montana, Wyoming, and North and South Dakota.

2. In 1865, the Missouri State Militia defeated Confederate guerrillas at the Battle of Glasgow. The battle took place in Howard County, and although the Union victory was decisive, it did not end the guerrilla warfare in Missouri.

3. In 1925, the first courthouse in Pulaski County was dedicated. It was located in Waynesville and was the first courthouse built in the county since its establishment in 1833.

4. In 1993, the St. Louis Blues defeated the Calgary Flames 8-1, setting a franchise record for most goals scored in a single game. Brett Hull scored three of the goals and added two assists.

5. In 2015, Missouri Governor Jay Nixon declared a state of emergency in response to flooding caused by heavy rain and melting snow. The flooding affected numerous communities, and hundreds of residents were forced to evacuate their homes.
