1. On July 15, 1806, the famous explorers Lewis and Clark camped at a site along the Missouri River in what is now Nebraska. The area is now known as the Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area and is a popular spot for camping, fishing, and boating.

2. In 1879, the first sod house in Nebraska was built near the town of Comstock. Sod houses were made from blocks of sod cut from the prairie and were a common form of housing for settlers in the Great Plains during the late 19th century.

3. On July 15, 1908, the town of Stromsburg was hit by a devastating tornado that caused extensive damage and killed five people. The tornado was part of a larger outbreak of severe weather that affected many parts of Nebraska.

4. In 1933, the Nebraska State Capitol building was officially dedicated in Lincoln. The building, which is one of the tallest state capitol buildings in the country, features unique art deco architecture and is a popular tourist attraction in the city.

5. On July 15, 1954, the Miss Nebraska Pageant was held for the first time in North Platte. The winner of the pageant went on to compete in the Miss America Pageant, which was and still is one of the most prestigious beauty pageants in the world.
