3. In 1913, the first transcontinental telephone call was made from San Francisco to New York via Salt Lake City. The call was made possible by the construction of a new transcontinental telephone line that connected the two coasts. The line passed through Utah and allowed for faster and more reliable communication across the country.

4. On July 3, 1915, the Salt Palace opened in downtown Salt Lake City. The massive building was designed to host conventions, trade shows, and other large events. It featured a 10,000-seat arena, an exhibition hall, and a variety of other facilities. The Salt Palace was a major venue in Utah for many decades before being replaced by a new convention center in the 1990s.

5. In 1971, Utah's Zion National Park was designated a biosphere reserve by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The park is home to a unique collection of plants and animals, and the biosphere designation recognizes its importance as a natural laboratory for scientific research and education. Today, Zion remains one of Utah's most popular and iconic national parks.
