1. In 1896, the town of Miami was incorporated, becoming the only major city in the United States to be founded by a woman, Julia Tuttle.

2. On July 7, 1938, the historic Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables opened its doors to the public. The hotel was designed by famed architect Leonard Schultze and features ornate decorations and lavish amenities.

3. In 1954, the Pillsbury Corporation opened its first theme park, Six Flags Over Texas, in Arlington. Since then, Florida has become home to several popular theme parks, including Walt Disney World and Universal Studios.

4. On July 7, 1981, the Florida State University Seminoles hired Bobby Bowden as their football coach. Bowden would go on to become one of the most successful coaches in college football history and lead the Seminoles to two national championships.

5. In 2019, the world's largest Lego theme park, Legoland Florida, celebrated its eighth anniversary on July 7. The park features over 50 rides, attractions, and shows, and is located in Winter Haven.
