2. In 1954, the Nevada State Museum opened in Carson City on July 7th. The museum features exhibits showcasing Nevada's natural, cultural, and geological history.

3. July 7, 1947, marks the day that the first atomic bomb test occurred at the Nevada Test Site. The test site would go on to conduct over 1,000 nuclear tests until 1992.

4. On July 7, 1981, Sandra Kaye Hunt became the first woman to be executed in the state of Nevada. She was convicted of murder in the first degree for killing a Las Vegas casino executive.

5. In 1958, on July 7th, Lake Tahoe was declared a national recreation area. This beautiful lake straddles the Nevada-California border and is a popular destination for swimming, boating, and fishing.
