3. In 1893, the world's first dental school, the National School of Dental Technics, opened in Bridgeport, Connecticut. This institution became the forerunner of modern dental education and training.

4. In 1929, the first baseball game played under lights in Connecticut took place in Bridgeport. The Bridgeport Bears defeated the Albany Senators 12-1 in front of a crowd of over 16,000 fans.

5. In 2011, the Connecticut legislature passed a bill legalizing same-sex marriage, making it the 17th state in the U.S. to do so. This landmark decision granted equal marriage rights to LGBTQ+ couples in the state.
