2. The Newark Bears, a minor league baseball team, played their first game at Ruppert Stadium in Newark on June 10, 1937. The team played in the stadium until their demise in 1950.

3. On June 10, 1967, the American Basketball Association (ABA) held its first draft in the ballroom of the Essex House Hotel in Newark. The ABA was a rival league to the NBA during the 1960s and 1970s.

4. The Battleship New Jersey arrived in its homeport of Camden on June 10, 1999. The ship, which saw action in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, is now a popular tourist attraction on the Camden waterfront.

5. On June 10, 2009, the State Supreme Court ruled that same-sex couples in New Jersey were entitled to all the benefits and rights of marriage. The ruling did not legalize same-sex marriage, but it did lead to the passage of a law allowing civil unions in the Garden State.
