1. On June 11, 1858, a group of 25 prospectors from Georgia discovered gold in what is now known as the city of Denver. This discovery sparked the Pike's Peak Gold Rush and led to the founding of many towns and settlements throughout Colorado.

2. June 11, 1917 marked the grand opening of the Cheesman Park Pavilion, a popular gathering spot in Denver's Cheesman Park. The pavilion was designed as a classical Greek amphitheater and was host to many concerts and events over the years.

3. On June 11, 1963, a tornado hit the town of Akron, Colorado, causing significant damage to buildings and homes. Tragically, 5 people lost their lives and many more were injured in the storms that swept through eastern Colorado that day.

4. Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper declared June 11, 2013 as "Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day" in recognition of the service and sacrifice of Vietnam War veterans. This declaration was part of a nationwide effort to honor veterans of the Vietnam War on the 50th anniversary of the conflict.
