1. Idaho officially became a state on June 14, 1890. It was the 43rd state to join the United States.
2. On June 14, 1923, the first potato of the season was harvested in Idaho. This event is celebrated every year as "Idaho Potato Day."
3. In 1934, the Pocatello Zoo was founded on June 14. It is the only zoo in Idaho.
4. On June 14, 1961, the Idaho State Historical Society opened its museum in Boise. The museum has since been relocated and renamed the Idaho State Museum.
5. The Gem State Stampede, a week-long rodeo held in Idaho Falls, begins on June 14 each year. The event has been held annually since 1919.
