2. On June 18, 1877, Ohio’s first enclosed baseball park, League Park, opened in Cleveland. The park, located on Lexington Avenue, was home to the Cleveland Indians for over 50 years until it was demolished in 1951.

3. Ohio native and aviation pioneer, Orville Wright, was born on June 18, 1867 in Dayton. Along with his brother Wilbur, Orville is credited with inventing and building the world’s first successful airplane.

4. On June 18, 1972, the Ohio Historical Society opened the Ohio Village, a living history museum in Columbus. The museum recreates life in a mid-19th century Ohio village and features costumed interpreters, historic buildings, and period demonstrations.

5. In 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Obergefell v. Hodges that same-sex marriage must be recognized and performed in all 50 states, including Ohio. The ruling legalized same-sex marriage nationwide and was a historic moment for LGBTQ+ rights. The decision was announced on June 18, 2015.
