2. The first radio broadcast in Utah happened on June 2, 1922. The program was a music and news broadcast and was transmitted from the Deseret News station in Salt Lake City.
3. June 2, 1988, was a historic day for the LDS Church. On that day, the church announced that it would build a temple in Beijing, China. It was the first temple to be built in a communist country.
4. On June 2, 2002, the 19th Winter Olympics Torch Relay arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah. The torch was carried across the state by more than 650 runners and was part of a 65-day journey throughout the United States.
5. In 2007, a severe thunderstorm hit parts of southern Utah, causing flash flooding in Zion National Park. The flooding caused the closure of the park's main road and several hiking trails. One hiker was killed and several others were stranded for hours before being rescued.
