1. Nevada became a state on October 31, 1864, but it wasn't until June 21, 1865, that the first official state legislature session was held in Carson City.

2. On June 21, 1900, an enormous wildfire erupted in the city of Virginia City, Nevada. The blaze, labeled as the "Great Fire," destroyed almost all of the downtown area and left more than 3,000 people homeless.

3. In 1958, on June 21, the US Air Force's Thunderbirds, the renowned air demonstration squadron, made its first official appearance at the Reno Air Races in Nevada. They executed a death-defying performance that left the crowd awestruck.

4. On June 21, 1989, a major earthquake, measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale, struck the town of Yucca Mountain, Nevada. The quake caused significant damage to the town and surrounding suburbs, but there were no fatalities.

5. June 21, 2018, marked a significant milestone in the state's history when the Nevada Athletic Commission officially granted mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor his license to fight in the state. McGregor made his boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather Jr. on August 26, 2017.
