1. In 1877, Chief Joseph and the Nez Perce tribe fought the Battle of White Bird Canyon in Idaho. This marked the beginning of the Nez Perce War, a conflict between the tribe and the US government that lasted several months.

2. On June 24, 1908, the Coeur d'Alene mining disaster occurred, when a fire broke out in the Bunker Hill and Sullivan Mine. Over 200 miners were killed in the blaze, making it one of the deadliest mining accidents in US history.

3. In 1928, the first air mail flight took place in Idaho. The pilot flew from Boise to the town of Elko, Nevada, delivering a mail sack to the local post office.

4. On June 24, 1973, the Teton Dam in eastern Idaho collapsed, releasing a massive flood that caused extensive damage to nearby towns and agricultural areas. Eleven people were killed in the disaster.

5. In 2016, the US Supreme Court ruled in favor of an Idaho couple who had been challenging the Environmental Protection Agency's regulation over their property. The case, known as US Army Corps of Engineers v. Hawkes Co., set a precedent for landowners' ability to challenge federal environmental regulations in court.
