1. In 1787, the New Jersey Constitution was ratified on June 26, making it the third state to join the newly formed United States. The constitution published that all free inhabitants of the state of 21 and over had the right to vote, making New Jersey the first state to do so.

2. On June 26, 1870, the first recorded mention of a baseball game in Atlantic City was made. The city had become a popular vacation spot for tourists and this led to the founding of the Atlantic Base Ball Club, which played in the city for many years.

3. In 1911, the first aerial bombing took place in the United States at the private estate of J. P. Morgan in Princeton. Captain Charles deForest Chandler dropped bombs from an airplane of the type he dubbed "flying machine".

4. In 1948, New Jersey was the birthplace of the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The document, which set forth the basic rights and freedoms that everyone is entitled to, was drafted by a committee of world leaders, including New Jersey native and first UN Secretary General Trygve Lie.

5. On June 26, 2015, the United States Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage nationwide. The decision was a landmark moment for LGBTQIA+ rights and sparked celebrations across the country, including in New Jersey, which had recognized same-sex marriage since 2013.
