2. In 1904, the Ford Motor Company opened a branch in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This plant produced Ford Model N cars and helped to establish Wisconsin as a leader in automobile manufacturing.

3. In 1947, the United States Atomic Energy Commission opened the first nuclear power plant in Wisconsin. Known as the X-10 Graphite Reactor, it was located near Madison and provided important research on nuclear energy.

4. In 1989, Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Juan Nieves threw the first no-hitter in franchise history. Nieves blanked the Baltimore Orioles, striking out seven while walking five in the historic performance.

5. In 2001, the Milwaukee Bucks advanced to the NBA Finals for the first time in 29 years. The team was led by star guard Ray Allen, but ultimately lost the series to the Los Angeles Lakers in five games.
