1. In 1949, the Wyoming Air National Guard was officially established on June 4th. It was initially known as the 187th Fighter Squadron and served in both the Korean War and the Gulf War.
2. On June 4, 1923, the town of Moran, Wyoming was destroyed by a massive wildfire. The fire started in nearby Grand Teton National Park and quickly spread to the town, destroying 32 buildings and killing two people.
