1. On March 10, 1872, King Kamehameha V signed into law the creation of the Kapiolani Park in Waikiki, the first public park in Hawaii. It was named in honor of his wife, Queen Kapiolani.

2. In 1893, on March 10, the Committee of Safety, a group of American businessmen, overthrew the Hawaiian monarchy and established a provisional government. This event eventually led to Hawaii becoming a US territory in 1898.

3. The USS Arizona Memorial, built to honor the 1,177 sailors and Marines who died during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, was dedicated on March 10, 1962, by Admiral Arthur W. Radford.

4. On March 10, 1997, an estimated 70,000 people gathered at Magic Island in Honolulu for the "Sunset on the Beach" event to watch an episode of the hit TV show "Baywatch" with actress Pamela Anderson in attendance.

5. The Hawaii Symphony Orchestra was founded on March 10, 2011, after a two-year hiatus caused by financial difficulties. The first concert of the re-established orchestra was held on September 16, 2011.
