1. In 1933, the Ohio River Flood began in Kentucky, causing widespread damage and displacement throughout the state. The flood was caused by heavy rainfall and melting snow, and resulted in the deaths of over 400 people.

2. On March 10, 1891, the Kentucky State Capitol building in Frankfort was completed. Designed by architect Frank Mills Andrews, the Beaux-Arts style building features a dome constructed of steel and gold leaf.
