3. 1936: The Texas Centennial Exposition opens in Dallas. The event celebrates the 100th anniversary of Texas independence, and features exhibits, displays, parades, and other events. The exposition attracts millions of visitors from all over the world.

4. 1993: A series of tornadoes strike the Dallas-Fort Worth area, causing widespread damage and several fatalities. The storm system produces 13 confirmed tornadoes, with the strongest rated an F4 on the Fujita scale.

5. 2010: The Texas Rangers play their first game at their new home stadium, Globe Life Park in Arlington. The stadium is a replacement for the team's former home, Arlington Stadium, which had been in use since the 1970s. Globe Life Park is known for its distinctive brick facade and retractable roof.
