2. In 1865, on March 19, the Missouri State Capitol building in Jefferson City caught fire, resulting in significant damage to the building. The fire was started accidentally by roofers who were using torches to melt tar for repairs.

3. On March 19, 1887, the state of Missouri executed Frank James, who was best known as the older brother of infamous outlaw Jesse James. Frank James was convicted of murder and robbery in 1882, and was sentenced to death by hanging.

4. March 19, 1942, is the date that the infamous Japanese-American internment camps were established. President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed an executive order that allowed for the forced relocation of Japanese-Americans to internment camps during WWII, including the large population in Missouri at that time.

5. On March 19, 1987, a tornado outbreak caused significant damage throughout Missouri. A total of 23 tornadoes touched down across the state, resulting in 10 deaths and over 200 injuries. Some of the hardest-hit areas included Poplar Bluff, Oak Ridge, and Cape Girardeau.
