3. In 1910, the first flight in Nebraska was made by pilot Arch Hoxsey in Omaha. Hoxsey's flight took place at Carter Lake and lasted for about 10 minutes.

4. In 1963, the Nebraska Legislature approved a formal state seal, which features a steamboat on the Missouri River, a cabin, a train, and the state motto "Equality Before the Law."

5. In 2016, Nebraska became the first conservative state in 42 years to abolish the death penalty. The decision was made by the state legislature and was vetoed by Governor Pete Ricketts, but the legislature overrode the veto. However, the death penalty was later reinstated by ballot initiative in 2018.
